What our Customers have to say about Thermal Imaging for Horses
Throughout the last 7 years, The Inner Picture has visited many clients, some of whom are single horse owners that just have fun with their horses, others are busy competition yards with many horses. We have scanned horses ranging across the entire equine discipline from" happy hackers" to dressage, showing, eventing, jumping and racing, however the one thing all our clients have is their concern to ensure that their horses remain at the peak of fitness and without any distress caused by injury. This is what they have to say:
Lee Pearson CBE - 10 Times Gold Medal Winner at 4 Paralympic Games
"I regularly use Clare's thermal imaging as a non invasive tool to ensure there are no heat anomalies in my competition horses. I also find that Clare's Low level Laser helps with small injuries and sore muscles that occasionally occur from time to time on competition horses. Clare also helps keep the horses supple and flexible by performing Merishia massage on a regular basis. Clare has become a good friend and very much part of the Lee Pearson team."

Rosie with "Vitta" - August 2013
"When Vitta came in from the field lame, but with no visible signs of an external injury I didn't know where to start. The vet recommended nerve blocking different areas to identify the problem, which I was not keen on, until a friend recommended thermal imaging. Clare was brilliant, she was very patient with my nervous horse, and the images identified the injured area immediately. As a result of the thermal images the vets were able to begin treating the stifle immediately and Vitta is now sound and back in work. I have no doubt that Clare's service saved us valuable time and money and would not hesitate to recommend her to others."
Sarah with "Spike" - June 2013
"After a recommendation from a friend Clare visited our yard for a routine visit to my two arab geldings, with the use of the thermal camera Clare quickly picked up on heat in the hock of one of the boys, Spike, and provided me with a simple plan and advice as to how to avoid this getting any worse and developing into a longer term problem. In just a few visits to Spike with massage and laser therapy, the heat has gone and I now have a pony who is more balanced and improving all the time in his way of going.
During each visit, Clare thoroughly explains the treatment she is giving and why, which is beneficial for me, as I can be aware of any problem areas on each horse that I need to keep an eye on in between visits. I will continue to use Clare to ensure that both horses are kept pain free to be able to perform to their full potential in their respective disciplines
Christine with "Misty" - March 2013
"I had my new mare Misty for a month when she started to buck which got increasingly worse. I had her saddle checked and a full vet check but no one could find anything wrong. I was very upset and considering having to sell her or keep her as a non ridden companion. A friend recommended Clare to me. She came out and found through her thermal images that Misty had heat patches along her back which were causing her discomfort. Through massage she found more tense spots along her back, neck, girth area and hindquarters. She gave her a thorough massage and low level laser therapy.
Clare is fantastic, very calming and aware of Mistys comfort the whole time. She also gave me practical advice and showed me stretches and massages I can do to help maintain Mistys comfort between visits. Since then I have had no more bucking problems and been able to go out competing in dressage and show jumping. Without Clare's help I may never have solved my mares problem. I would recommend her to anyone, whether you are having a problem or just need a check up. I can not express how invaluable her help has been."
Gemma with "Molly"
Thanks so much for everything yesterday, Molly seems like a totally different horse, told you I may be ringing you to come and put her back to how she was!!
Kas with Lady Beauts - Feb 2013
"Thanks to Clare and the thermal images we were able to quickly diagnose a foot problem which had lead to an ordinarly fun little horse who loved to jump XC and hunt fences to increasingly refusing at a fence. When she stopped wanting to jump out hunting I knew there was something not right but there was no obvious lameness. The Thermal images lead me to get X-rays at the vets, which diagnosed foot balance issues and even after 5 weeks of remedial shoeing the improvement is amazing! I would highly recommend the imaging and the therapist work that Clare does - I will definately make this routine to keep my horse healthy and pain free. "
Lauren West- Eventer - Jan 2013
"I had recently moved to the area and therefore needed to find somebody that I could trust to make a difference to my horse and his way of going and keep him fit and healthy for me to achieve my goals within the season.
I had Clare visit the yard to do some Equine Thermography (thermal imaging) on my horse as an initial assessment and was instantly pleased with how she dealt with him. Clare is trained in many different ways, from McTimoney-Corley Spinal Therapy to Low level Laser therapy (and more!!) allowing her to get to the bottom of the problem and help repair and progress the combination.
She fully explained everything that she was working on and was keen to really make a mark in how my horse went, I now work closely with Clare to achieve the most of my Eventing season and look forward to her visit every time. "
Tina Shakespeare - Hunting
"I use my horse, Peru, for hunting but although I have only owned him for a year I still knew there was something wrong. After visit from several experts including chiropractors, a farrier and a riding instructor I thought I would give Clare at The Inner Picture a call. I had thought it was his back that was causing the problem but Clare identified it straight away and it turned out to be in his foot. I could then tell the vet it was a problem with his foot and we took X-rays. The problem was caused by shoeing and Peru had chronic lameness due to balancing issues. I don't know how long this problem would have continued if I hadn't telephoned The Inner Picture."
Christina Crane - Cross Country
"I can always rely on Clare to come out particularly at short notice when I need her to scan Sunny. The guidance and treatment given are excellent and have helped my horse out tremendously over the years when it has been needed. I never hesitate to give her a call when required. We also get the boys routinely scanned twice a year for both peace of mind and to ensure all is well."
Gail Emery, Cannock - Show Jumpers
"I own a 7 year old mare used for jumping. She took a severe reaction to a tetanus injection causing severe lameness and stiffness all over the body and acute haematoma of the chest, neck and shoulder. The lymph system was also badly impaired and after 6 weeks of veterinary care I had given up on being able to jump her again or in fact even getting her sound. I contacted The Inner Picture and Clare assessed her. The lymph system was being compromised preventing healing and the swellings on the neck and chest had hardened therefore the mare was unable to move the leg properly and could only shuffle along. Clare gave her 8 treatments of laser and after 3 weeks all swellings had disappeared. The lymph system was working admirably and no lameness was present. If I had not contacted Clare I have no doubts that the mare would have been written off for this year "
Rene Schoop - Tandem FEI national champion several times
"I was very impressed with the overall knowledge and professionalism of Clare from The Inner Picture."
Ann, Glossop, Derbyshire
"My mare hadn't felt quite right when ridden for a while and my vet, who I rate very highly, was unable to find anything wrong because the lameness wasn't noticeable, it was more of a feeling when riding. She had lameness assessments and x-rays and nothing showed up. I was starting to feel like a neurotic owner although I've owned my horse for 9 years and knew she wasn't quite right. I found The Inner Picture on the internet and made an appointment for Clare to visit.
Clare didn't want to know anything about Cara until she'd completed the thermal image. I decided to have a full body image done not knowing where the problem was and not wanting to give Clare a clue about the problem. (Sorry Clare!) The image clearly showed too much heat in both her heels. To cut a long story short, the images were a starting point for my vet and after nerve blocking her right heel she became sound. I still wanted to know what the problem was so, she's recently had an MRI scan and been diagnosed with the early stages of navicular. More in the right foot than left. (As per Thermal Images).
I'd like to thank Clare for finding a starting point and proving I'm not a neurotic owner! I'm pleased to say that with expert shoeing from my farrier, Mike Randles, she's perfectly sound and enjoying life without medication. (Long may it continue). I will certainly be asking Clare to check her at least twice a year and would recommend to anyone either as an early warning sign of any problems looming or, to pin point a problem area if you know something isn't quite right."
Excerpt from Horse & Hound Forum - Kezima
"Mine was just ever so slightly unlevel - I had to trot her up 6 times for vet to see it but I knew something was not right - couldn't find anything had Clare Ellam out - she took pics, took 20 min's. Hot spot behind pastern (navicular area) showed vets, did X-rays and yes lo and behold early navicular!!!. I'm glad I did as she is now sound with remedial shoes and no medication."
